Elizabeth Jane Hurley has been a model and actress in England since the late 1980s. In 1990 there was speculation that she might have been Hugh Grant's girlfriend. In the 1990s, when the film of Grant Four Weddings and a Funeral was the focus of worldwide interest in the media, Hurley accompanied Grant to its Los Angeles premiere wearing a black Versace dress and gold safety-pins. The dress instantly earned her fame in the media. Her most memorable professional experience is her relationship with the cosmetics firm Estee Lauder. It offered Hurley her modeling opportunity at age 29. They have used Hurley as a model in their products, particularly perfumes like Sensuous Intuition and Pleasures from 1995. Her most famous film work was when she played Vanessa Kensington in Mike Myers popular spy comedies International Man of Mystery (1997) as well as Austin Powers The Spy Who Shagged Me (1999). Hurley is an actress and designer of the eponymous Beachwear Line. Perry's attempts at mainstream fame were disastrous. Before any new material could even be put out, two record labels had signed and were able to drop Perry. In 2007 however Capitol Records put out Perry's EP Ur So Gay which attracted modest attention for its cheerfully humorous title track. The song I Kissed a Girl was a more assertive ode sexism with a sharp edged electro-pop rhythm. The track quickly caused controversy, as critics criticized it for promoting same-sex relations and others charged that the explicit scenario that it depicted was a sly way to appeal to the fantasies of males about sexuality in females. I Kissed a Girl was an immediate hit for Perry's The One of the Boys in 2008, thanks to the combination of excitement and music. The album's 2nd single Hot N Cold also proving to be a hit, the album which Perry composed herself, eventually saw the sales of over three million copies in the United States.
